Since 1996 we have been involved in Training, Simulation and Platforms for Surveillance.

Our goal is to deliver the very best UAV solutions to you for Tactical ISR at an affordable price

Our objective

How do you land a drone in this?

How do you land a drone in this?

KD-AERO was created to find solutions to long range and persistence surveillance problems using multi-copters. It was a daunting task as most if not all UAV’s in this category only fly up to 30 - 40 minutes. These units fly for a few km / miles and return with depleted batteries that take hours to recharge. Furthermore, these drones are only now getting fitted with gimbaled camera systems that may have both electro optical cameras and infrared cameras in the same platform. The infrared cameras are normally at best long wave infrared uncooled sensors with fixed lenses. While these are much better than the DJI class of machines, they are not suitable for professional class UAV’s for persistance surveillance missions.

What we did.

No where to take off from

No where to take off from

After an extensive search, KD-AERO has found the perfect platform and has been able to integrate a multitude of Gimbal cameras available from a world wide set of suppliers. The best UAV without a great camera is merely an expensive gadget at best and, more likely a good toy. Having a great reliable communications platform is a must in order to see what is on the ground in real-time.

We looked at areas of the world that are particularly challenging to operate UAV’s in. South East Asia, South Asia and South - Central America being a few such areas face difficult challenges. The Terrain and the foliage and interference with communications makes this particularly challenging.

Fixed Wing Tactical UAV’s require either a runway or a parachute and with the later, a field of up to a football pitch is needed to safely land the UAV. The Multi-Copter with a 2.5 - 3.5 hour flight time and up to a 70 km range is, in many cases better than some tactical hand launched UAV’s and can carry a large enough weight to put some of the best gimbals with most professional sensors into operations

We have achieve that!

What we learned and, how you too can benefit from our experience.

Finally if the price is exorbitant, no one will purchase the system and with all the innovation present the engineering will be lost.

The biggest cost drivers of these systems are:

  • Gimbal and level of fidelity for the given mission

  • UAV Platform itself with Ground Control Station (GCS)

  • Communications System and range along with data links to other remote systems or aircraft.

  • Which Software and AI solutions fit your needs for aids to detect targets and alarms of targets being present out to long ranges.

  • The system needs to be able to operate safely in congested airspace and be trackable by civilian air traffic control.

  • Finally the system must be easy to use and easy to train on.

We believe we have one of the most useful systems for Surveillance of Borders, Policing activities, and may soon allow for Manned and Unmanned Teaming activities where Helicopters can control the UAV and where it goes and transmit the video back to the Pilot of Crew Chief in real time. Using the Handheld GCS on the previous page, you can send commands and instruct the UAV to go and perform its mission as you need it to do from the air.
